Hey all.
Well the Sen's are playing right now, yet I am not watching the game. It is on the PPV tonight. $10.95 plus tax to watch a hockey game...I don't think so. When you pay $65 a month for Sattelite it should be enough to get the game on TV.
Thank god for AM radio! At least that is still free.

Been awhile...oops
Sorry to all for not posting for awhile. This blog thing is hard unless you really put forth the effort. For those that know me, I have a very short attention span and get distracted very easily...
I digress...
Congrats to Brian Kilrea on his amazing record of getting the Ottawa 67's into the OHL playoffs for the 29th time in 30 years.....An impressive record considering the ever changing dynamics of an OHL team every year.
Now onto the Ottawa Senators....Ray Emery has been lights out for most of the season, but lately sweet Ray (a boxing reference here) has not provided the goal tending when they need it the most in the third period. 4 out of the last 5 games have been blown leads by the Sen's (yes Gerber was the victim of one as well), but the Goaltenders especially Emery who will probably carry the load need to make up for this teams defensive shortcomings...Besides Chris Phillips, Anton Volchenkov and Tom Priessing, this team is very suspect on the "D". Wade Redden is having a horrible season and he would be the first to admit that, but he is a veteran player who I think will be a gamer come playoff time. Mezaro's is in a sophomore slump, hopefully he can get out of it, and Joe Corvo, well needs to sit a game or two and catch his breath.
Will blog tomorrow for sure.

Winds of Change
Hey All.
With a week left until the trade deadline in the NHL, here are my thoughts on what the Sen's could do.
A hard nosed take no prisoner, yet smart forward. Yes yes every team wants one of these, but with a Bill Guerin and Gary Roberts out there it may not be a bad idea to pick one of those two up.
Shed Joe Corvo's salary.....He has not lived up to expectations and if he can be moved then I don't see a downside to it. Same goes for Martin Gerber.

Been awhile
Hey all.
Been a bit since I blogged but with the lack of much real interesting stuff going on in Ottawa lately, there has not been much to say.
Since last I blogged, my dishwasher and furnace both broke and I have a raccoon living under my deck (oh ya...I live in suburbia so the raccoon thing is not good).
Friday night, Brian Kilrea (Killer) will be behind the Ottawa 67's bench for his 2000th game in the OHL. An amazing accomplishment for sure and he deserves all the accolades that comes with it. I don't think we will ever see another like him.
Word around town is that NHL boss Gary Bettman will be in attendance along with numerous other former players, coaches and friends of Killer.
I have loved the Team 1200 ad's chronicling the life of Killer that have been running lately. Dave Schrieber is awesome in them. His enthusiasm is great!
Will blog on Saturday for sure...Leafs at Sens...........

For Those Who Want to Trade
Hi all.
Well the radio airwaves here in Ottawa the past few weeks have been all over Jason Spezza, who is not even playing right now as he is injured. People seem to think that since the Sen's are doing so well without him that he is expendable now.
I say GET A LIFE PEOPLE...Spezza is one of the top 20 players in the league, at 4 million a season for this year and next year is not a huge cap hit for a player of his stature. Sure he is not perfect and he has on more then one occasion elisted a few 4 letter words out of my mouth while watching him, but the upside definelty is better then the downside.

A New Friend with a Great Sports Take
Hey Everyone.
Check out the new link to my blog.
http://www.fearandloathinginottawa.com/index.html
Here you can find Local things going on in and around Canada’s capital that interest the host - someone who wants to challenge the idea that Ottawa (and its surrounding suburbs) is little more than a boring, stodgy, dull government town. So if you're looking for a unique take on the local entertainment, social and political scene, you've come to the right place.
Also a big sports guy and you can hear yours truly on the latest podcast. http://www.fearandloathinginottawa.com/podcasts/FLO25.mp3
Enjoy.

Hockey Day in Canada
Hey all.
Well today is Hockey Day in Canada. It starts out well with an nice 8-3 win by Ottawa over Montreal. Ottawa looked good and well, les Habitant's SUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKEEEEEE....
I have to admit, I am Canadian born and rasied, but really can't get into this Hockey Day in Canada thing. I don't understand why this nation seems to think that there history is dependent on winning hockey games and tournaments. Soccer (football), cricket ect are important to other countries equal to or more then hockey is to Canada but you don't see Cricket Day in Barbados, or Soccer Day in Brazil...
Just my two cents.

250 Million Dollars to Kick A Ball
Hey there, Kanata Sportsguy here.
English superstar David Beckham signs on with the LA Galaxy of the MLS for $250 million over 5 years...His presence will go a long way to increasing the image of the MLS in the United States which is good, but still, come on, $250 million to kick a damn ball.

NHL All Star Farce
Ya man, Kanata Sportsguy here.
Here is one happy guy that Rory Fitzpatrick did not get voted into the NHL ALLSTAR GAME. Now I hate AllStar Games but I hate even more a bunch of useless Buffalo morons who live in thier parents basement with no job, no social life and probably smell bad cloggin up the internet voting for freaking Rory Fitzpatrick all day, making stupid VOTE FOR RORY T-shirts because these freaks of nature have nothing better to do with thier time. The guy has 1 point in 28 games..Gimme a break, you Buffalo freaks. And oh ya, Buffalo freaks, Rory does not even play for you anymore, HE PLAY'S FOR VANCOUVER....
And people wonder why Buffalo got 3 players in the starting lineup for the game (Daniel Briere, Ryan Miller and Brian Cambell)
And oh ya...Heatley and the A-Train should go to the All-Star Game as coaches picks!

My First Blog
Hello everyone.
Kanata Sportsguy here to let you know what I think about sports and maybe other things in Ottawa Canada from time to time.
First off, a couple things about me...I am male (the guy thing in the name might give that away, but you never know)...Happily married, two kids under the age of 4....(Yes I have been busy), but most of all a SPORTS FAN..Not a FANATIC, but a fan. I don't spend every waking minute watching or playing sports (actually I don't play any sports at all). I just enjoy most sports.
Local professional sports here in Ottawa is limited to the NHL's Ottawa Senators and...well nothing else....Triple A baseball with the Ottawa Lynx is leaving in a year, we have no CFL, no MLB, no NFL, NO MLS...and I could go on.
Well my plan here is to blog as much as possible on the Ottawa sports scene and throw in a few tidbits here and there. Let me know what you think and let me know if there is anything you want me to talk about in particular.
